The trip to London was blissfully uneventful. I can now add a ride through the channel tunnel to my list of strange and wonderful things I have experienced. Unfortunately, the trip through the tunnel isn’t very exciting. Just eighteen minutes of dark.
Tonight we are staying near Paddington Station. The plan had been to take the train to Heathrow, quick, easy and reasonably priced. After dragging bags on and off trains for the past week, an expensive cab ride may win out.
Our hotel room is the strangest yet. The room is so small we have to step over our luggage to go to the bathroom. Paul suggested putting out some of those orange cones so we don’t trip over the luggage, but there is no room for the cones. Also, no chairs to sit on, but we do have an efficiency kitchen. There is no problem seeing the smallest details on the tv, as the 36″ screen is at the foot of the bed. It sticks out from the wall far enough that it is easier to crawl over the bed than to try to walk around. Guess next time I make a hotel reservation I will ask the square footage of the room. I really shouldn’t complain, I do have a room with relatively comfortable bed and a charming travel companion, so will quit whiny and get some sleep, we will need to be up early to start the next leg of the journey.
