The end of our frugal month is in sight.
This past week we were again fortunate. Our biggest challenge is living without toast as the toaster oven died. Since we will be taking off in the trailer next week, it may be awhile before we replace it.
Entertainment has been a challenge these past weeks, so we were very grateful to spend a day with our grandsons, Dylan and Ronan. Gretchen needed babysitting for the boys last Friday and offered to pay for any entertainment we chose for the day. We took advantage of her offer and took the boys out to McMinnville to visit the Air Museum. We certainly aren’t the cheapest babysitters, but we didn’t do too bad. Tickets to the Air Museum ran $44. Lunch and snacks added another $50 to the tab. All had a great time, so it was money well spent. Thank you Gretchen for funding our outing.
When we started the month of frugal living, we weren’t sure how the groceries or gasoline would hold out. Our friends Carol and John offered to bring dinner towards the end of the month and Saturday night was the night. We enjoyed a wonderful feast of smoked salmon, deviled eggs, elk shank, kale and baguette. Paul and I still had cabbage, so contributed a salad and of course there was plenty of red wine. It was a terrific evening.
We did need to make a run to Fred Meyer’s for a couple of things for the salad. I had $5.32 in rewards dollars which was more than adequate to cover the missing ingredients. Felt kind of strange to be walking up and down the aisles of a grocery store after almost a month away.
Another sunny day on the river, time to go for a walk.
