Week two is nearing the end and our first attempt at bartering worked out very well. I traded helping our daughter and her husband with their tax return for two tickets ($22 each) to the season opener for the Timbers (they threw in a couple of beers at the game – $8.75 a piece). They also included us in dinner at their friends, Kat and Jim’s, before the game so we had a complete evening out. The game was terrific with the Timbers beating Philadelphia 3 to 1.
We ate the last of our bananas last Monday morning. One of you is johnny on the spot delivering 11 bananas to our house while we were at the game. They are delicious. Thank you banana nymph! I have decided I need to be careful about posting what we run out of or we will have more food in the house at the end of the month than when we started.
A couple of trips into downtown came up this week, so fuel in the Subaru is being used a little faster than planned. The roadster still has a full tank, but I hate to drive it in bad weather.
The truck is still full of fuel, but not for long. This afternoon we head out for a rally with our Airstream group. While the weather isn’t what I would order for a camping weekend we need to get away from the house for a bit so we won’t complain. The rally is in Silverton and about 25 or so other Airstreams will be there. We paid the rally fee ($68) a couple of months ago which covers camping and several meals. The challenge for us will be entertainment. It will take some thinking to figure out what we can barter for admission to the Oregon Garden or for lunch out. We do have a state park pass, so we can offer use of that should someone be headed to Silver Falls.
Time to hit the road.
